Little Grounders I Family Friendly Fall Activities

Family Friendly Fall Activities

Hard as it may be to believe (or accept!), summer is ending and we’re shifting into full on fall mode. Here are some fun autumn activities that the whole family can enjoy!

Farm and Food

Fall is practically synonymous with harvest and it’s easy to see why. This is the time of year when lots of delicious fruits and vegetables are at their peak. Farmers markets and harvest festivals abound, as are delightful events for your toddler to celebrate the season. And even though food is often prominently featured, don’t let the fact your kid won’t touch a vegetable with a 10-foot pole keep you away. Festivals have more than just the food! Dance and sing along to live music, take a hayride, navigate your way through a corn maze, visit with farm animals. You’re sure to find something for everyone in your family.

Pick Your Own Produce

Apples and pumpkins are classic tastes of the season and trips to the apple orchard and pumpkin patch are very popular autumn excursions. Family members of all ages can’t help but get into the excitement of picking apples and finding the perfect Halloween pumpkin. The fruits of your labor can lead to many fun activities for your kids as well - make applesauce or other special seasonal treats, carve your pumpkin and enjoy the textural experience of dunking little hands into those goopy, gloppy innards.

Back To School = Fall Sports

While your kiddo may not be headed to school, that doesn’t prevent you from joining in on some of the excitement of the season. Check out the different fall sports events that big kids are taking part in: soccer, cross country, football, field hockey. Chances are, your little ones will be enamored with watching the big kids (or getting a yummy snack from the concession stand!) and the big kids will appreciate having some adorable fans in the crowd.

A Natural Backdrop

During fall, tree leaves change from lush greens to vibrant reds, yellows, and oranges, resulting in a vibrant new color palette. Simply put, autumn is beautiful. Go on a nature walk or a family hike and seek out some stunning views that can take your breath away. Have you ever taken a drive in the Northeast to see the fall foliage? A sight to behold!

Another great option is to book a family photo session that takes advantage of the colorful background nature has supplied. What a perfect opportunity to get the perfect shot for your holiday card (bonus!). Once the leaves start to fall from the trees, make sure your kiddos get a chance to experience the thrill of running and jumping into a crisp, crunchy leaf pile!!

Fall offers tons of opportunities for getting out to see, taste, explore, and establish traditions that you can enjoy as a family for years to come. You may expect your daily adventures would tire your toddler out enough to sleep through the night without interruption, but do expectations ever meet reality when toddlers are involved? Be sure to tuck your little one into bed wearing his or her comfortable climb-limiting pajamas from Little Grounders. That way, you can rest assured that no middle the of night crib escapes happen when he or she decides it’s the perfect time to go on another fun-filled fall adventure!

A Little Love,
